Portioning

The JBT FoodTech DSI portioning system is the pioneer product for automated waterjet portioning of food products.

DSI was originally founded in 1981 as a supplier of seafood processing equipment and plant design. In the early 80s the company developed broad experience in food processing along with an in-depth expertise in machine-vision software. In 1984, DSI combined these capabilities to create the first successful automated waterjet portioner for food products.

The DSI system uses a vision system to determine key attributes of each piece of input product. DSI software selects an optimal cut strategy for each piece, and ultra-thin streams of high-pressure water cut the product cleanly and safely. DSI hardware and software is continually refined. More than two decades after creating the first system, JBT FoodTech's DSI product line continues to provide food processors with ever-improving capability and flexibility.
