FMC FoodTech to Strengthen Role as Complete Solutions Provider in 2006

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 25, 2006 International Poultry Exposition—Atlanta, January 25, 2006 -

Company introduces new solutions and executive leadership at International Poultry Expo

FMC FoodTech is introducing several new solutions and the newest member of its leadership team this week at the International Poultry Exposition (IPE) in Atlanta. These announcements support the company’s overall strategy to solidify its position as a total solutions provider for the global food processing industry.

Toby Arvidsson has been appointed the new manager for FMC FoodTech’s Food Solutions and Services Division (FSSD) and will play an integral role in strengthening the company’s position as a knowledge supplier for the industry. Arvidsson steps into this position following the recent retirement of Jeff Simoneau as FSSD division manager after 29 years of service to the company. Arvidsson has more than 30 years of food processing industry experience and has been with FMC FoodTech since the company’s acquisition of Frigoscandia Equipment in 1996. Prior to his new position, Arvidsson was manager of FSSD in Europe for five years and spent two years as general manager for North America.

“In our quest to help processors optimize production, FMC FoodTech’s ongoing goal is to be a complete solutions provider to the global food processing community,” says new FSSD division manager Arvidsson. “We’ll continue to focus on offering superior equipment across all our product lines while we increase our capabilities beyond equipment into technology solutions that further optimization and efficiency.”

New equipment and technology solutions from FMC FoodTech to be showcased at IPE include the new D-Scan™ Product Attribute Processor and GYRoCOMPACT® M10 Tight Curve Spiral Freezer, which will be available as models on the show floor.

D-Scan Product Attribute Processor – a Versatile Window into the Operating Process

The D-Scan Product Attribute Processor is an automated vision system that enables processors to scan and sort product based upon numerous attributes, thus improving product quality and increasing production efficiency. The D-Scan system improves raw product yield by using superior product information to direct each piece of raw poultry breast meat to its most profitable use.

The D-Scan system employs the vision system and software from the best-selling DSI Accura™ Portioning System to scan raw product upstream of slicers and DSI portioning systems. Industry-proven DSI portioning software evaluates each piece of raw product for use in various finished products and then sorts product to economically important parameters such as yield or throughput.

GYRoCOMPACT® M10 Tight Curve Spiral Freezer – 50 Percent Greater Capacity

FMC FoodTech’s new GYRoCOMPACT M10 Tight Curve (M10 TC) spiral freezer has a footprint the same width as the GYRoCOMPACT 76, but nearly 50 percent greater capacity. Incorporating all of the benefits that make the M-series product line the industry leader in freezing, the M10 TC boasts superior hygiene, flexibility, reliability and performance.

Enhancements to the freezer such as a 40-inch belt, integrated pulling link and wider in-feed allow for greater capacity and longer run-times with less downtime and turnaround time. Another feature, the third generation FRIGoDRIVE® M drive system, advances the conveyor belt using only rolling friction for increased speed, less lubrication and lower drive forces. In addition, the new drive system enables increased stack weights of up to 45 tiers, significantly increasing capacity and efficiency. The M10 TC gives processors the increased speed and capacity they need, in a freezer that fits conveniently into plant floor space.

Models of the D-Scan Product Attribute Processor and the GYRoCOMPACT M10 TC conveyor stack will be available for viewing at IPE in Atlanta, Georgia, January 25 – 28, 2005 in hall C-4 at booth #605. To schedule an interview with Toby Arvidsson or another FMC FoodTech executive at IPE, please contact Stefanie Gordish at 614-582-1781 or stefanie.gordish@edelman.com.
