Sweetened condensed milk
Sweetened condensed milk is cow's milk from which water has been removed and to which sugar has been added.
A related product is evaporated milk which is less concentrated and has undergone more complex processing because of the absence of sugar that inhibits bacterial growth. These two products have been popular in the past because of the difficulty to store milk prior to the development of refrigeration techniques. A popular treat in Asia is to put condensed milk on a toast as a spread.
