Food Processing Technology & Training Center expanding equipment offering

GYRoCOMPACT M10 Tight Curve  

GYRoCOMPACT® M10 Tight Curve

JBT FoodTech is currently installing a GYRoCOMPACT® M10 Tight Curve Spiral Freezer in the Food Processing Technology & Training Center in Sandusky, Ohio, U.S.A. An Open House is being planned for late summer/early fall to launch the availability of this freezer for testing. The useable belt width for the M10 Tight Curve Spiral Freezer is 40 inches, compared to the 28-inch belt width for the GYRoCOMPACT M76; however, because of the Tight Curve radius, the M10 provides more usable belt in the same enclosure width as the M76, providing increased throughput. There is no need to converge 40-inch lines when using the M10, plus the new drive system (M-Drive) utilized on the M10 allows spirals of 45 tiers and taller. A Double D™ Searer/Grill Marker was recently installed in the Tech Center and is now available for testing. The Double D Searer/Grill Marker can be custom-built with any number of burners, and produces a seared or grill marked effect on a wide range of products to enhance the taste and appearance.

JBT Corporation Announces Award of New Juice Processing Project in Dubai, United Arab Emerates
In February, JBT Corporation announced that JBT FoodTech signed two contracts with Aujan Industries Co. (Aujan) for a total of approximately $8 million USD. Aujan is the largest privately owned beverage and confectionery company in the Middle East. JBT FoodTech will provide two complete high-speed lines to process Aujan’s unique beverage recipe of smooth juice with real fruit pieces. The solution enables the unloading of citrus pulp cells; the dosing and mixing of both intact pulp cells and juice at constant ratios; the pasteurization of the pulpy fruit beverage; and the filling into retail containers. The order was received late in the fourth quarter of 2010 with the project currently scheduled to be operational in the third quarter of 2011.

JBT Corporation Announces Major FoodTech Order Totaling $4.1 Million
In January, JBT FoodTech signed a $4.1 million contract to supply protein processing and freezing solutions for a convenience food processing plant in Kaliningrad, Russia. The contract is with Concordia Ltd., a business subdivision of Miratorg Agribusiness Holding, the operator of the largest Russian production facility for ready-to-eat and convenience foods. JBT FoodTech will supply and integrate two Stein™ fryers and filters, three GYRoCOMPACT spiral freezers and one ADVANTEC impingement freezer for the freezing, frying and filtration of poultry, ready meals and meat patties at the rebuilt Kaliningrad facility. The order was received late in the fourth quarter of 2010 with the project scheduled to be fully operational in the fourth quarter of 2011.

JBT Corporation Announces Award of New Tomato Processing Project in China
In January, JBT Corporation announced that JBT FoodTech signed an $8 million USD contract with China Haohan Group Ltd. JBT FoodTech will supply the equipment, including evaporation, flash cooling and aseptic sterilization technologies, to provide high-capacity production of tomato paste for a new plant in the Xinjiang province of China. China Haohan Group is one of the largest producers and exporters of tomato paste in China. The order was received in the fourth quarter of 2010 with the project currently scheduled to be operational in the third quarter of 2011.

JBT Corporation Announces Contract Award for Milk Processing Technologies in Malaysia
In January, JBT Corporation announced that JBT FoodTech signed a contract valued at $4 million with Malaysia-based PML Dairies, a wholly-owned subsidiary of F&N Holdings Berhad. JBT FoodTech will supply filling, closing and sterilization technologies at PML Dairies’ new Pulau Indah milk processing plant. F&N is the biggest canned milk producer in Southeast Asia with products including sweetened condensed, evaporated and sterilized canned milk, milk and dairy products, pasteurized juices and ice cream. The order was received in the fourth quarter of 2010 with the project completion scheduled for the second quarter of 2011.

JBT FoodTech named one of the ‘Best Companies to Work For in Brazil’

For the 11th year in a row, the Brazil-based business of JBT FoodTech was named one of “The 130 Best Companies to Work For in Brazil” by Epoca magazine in partnership with the Great Place to Work® (GPTW) Institute.

Companies are selected for the Best Companies lists primarily based upon their employees’ responses to a survey that measures the levels of trust, pride and camaraderie within the workplace.

The GPTW Institute is a research and management consulting firm with international affiliate offices in 41 countries and is dedicated to building a better society by helping companies transform their workplaces. This study was published in Epoca, a Brazilian weekly news and analysis magazine. GPTW Institute also works with other leading regional publications, such as Fortune magazine, HR Magazine and the Financial Times, in 30 countries to publish and recognize the Best Companies.

JBT FoodTech people on the move

Bob Stacy has joined the JBT FoodTech Coating Lines team in Sandusky, Ohio, U.S.A., as coating lines manager. Bob has been with JBT FoodTech for more than 26 years and has worked in various capacities relating to the Stein product line. Bob holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in business administration from Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio, U.S.A.

John Jetton joined the JBT FoodTech Stein™ Product Line team in Sandusky, Ohio, U.S.A., as sales support manager. John joined JBT FoodTech in 2008 as strategic sourcing manager. Prior to JBT FoodTech, he served as Director of Business Development and director of purchasing for Wayne Farms, Oakwood Ga., U.S.A.; manager of contracts and capital acquisitions at Foster Farms, Livingston, Calif., U.S.A.; director of logistics for Keystone Corp., Reidsville, NC; and plant manager of the food service division for ConAgra Foods, Omaha, Neb., U.S.A. John holds a master’s degree in science from Auburn University, Auburn, Ala., U.S.A.
